Who runs this site

This website is a personal, non-commercial project run by a private individual: Nicola Sabaini (online alias “indecenti”), the independent developer of NucleoOS. It is not a company or a business. The site sells nothing, carries no advertising and has no commercial purpose.

Privacy

What this site does not do. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, social-media plug-ins, or third-party fonts and scripts. Everything the page needs — text, fonts, images and video — is served from this site’s own server, so visiting it sends nothing to anyone else.

Server logs. Like any web server, the server that hosts this site records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the response and the browser’s user-agent string. This data is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and investigate abuse (legal basis: legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is kept for no more than 14 days unless it is needed to investigate a specific security incident, and it is never sold, shared or used to profile anyone. The server is rented from a hosting provider (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), which processes this data on the author’s behalf.

Preferences in your browser. The site remembers two choices in your browser’s local storage: the language you picked and the device shown (the original Cardputer or the ADV). They never leave your device, and you can delete them at any time from your browser settings. This storage only serves a feature you ask for, so it needs no consent.

Email. If you write to the address above, your message and address are used only to reply to you and are kept only as long as the conversation needs them.

Links to other services. Links to GitHub, GitHub Pages (the web installer), Amazon and M5Stack take you to services with their own privacy policies; this site shares no data with them. The web installer connects to your Cardputer through your browser only when you start it.

Your rights. You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict its processing or to object to it (Articles 15–22 GDPR) by writing to the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

The software is provided as is

NucleoOS is free for noncommercial use under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. It is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The author is not liable for damage to devices, loss of data or any other harm arising from installing or using it, except where the law does not allow such liability to be excluded.

Installing a custom firmware is your own choice and at your own risk, and it may affect the manufacturer’s warranty. Back up anything on the microSD card before you start.

Commercial use is not covered by the free license: contact the author before using NucleoOS commercially. NucleoOS includes third-party components under their own licenses, listed in THIRD_PARTY.md.

Security tools and the law

NucleoOS includes tools for testing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wired networks, infrared and USB devices. They are meant for education, research and authorized security testing only. Use them only on networks and devices you own, or for which you have the owner’s explicit written permission.

Accessing systems without authorization, intercepting or disrupting communications, and transmitting on radio frequencies outside the rules can be criminal or administrative offences — in Italy, for example, under Articles 615-ter and 617-quater of the Criminal Code — and similar laws apply elsewhere. Some radio functions may be restricted in your country even on your own equipment. You alone are responsible for how you use these tools; the author does not condone, and accepts no liability for, any misuse.

Emulators and games

NucleoOS includes emulators but no games or ROMs, and it does not help you obtain them. Load only games you have the right to use, such as copies you own, where your law allows it. Game Boy, Game Gear, NES, SNES, Mega Drive and PC Engine are trademarks of their respective owners.

AI features

ANIMA runs offline, on your device and in your browser. The optional online features — AI Chat, the copilot and the agents — connect your browser directly to the provider you choose (Anthropic, Groq, xAI or Google), under that provider’s terms and privacy policy, using an API key you supply. What you send goes to that provider, not to this site or to the author. Answers produced by AI, online or offline, can be wrong: check anything that matters.

NucleoOS is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by M5Stack, Espressif, Anthropic, Groq, xAI, Google, GitHub, Amazon, Oracle, Nintendo, Sega or any other company named on this site. M5Stack and Cardputer are trademarks of M5Stack Technology Co., Ltd.; ESP32 is a trademark of Espressif Systems. All other names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

The Cardputer product photos are © M5Stack and are shown only to identify the hardware NucleoOS runs on; the screens in them are real NucleoOS renders. If you hold rights to any material on this site and want it removed, write to the address above and it will be taken down promptly.
